Performance Snapshot
The Broadway Bakers debuted in 2002, primarily at private house parties. Joseph and Renae especially enjoyed appearing at one octogenarian's birthday party, where they teamed with the birthday girl's granddaughter to sing "Part of Your World," from The Little Mermaid. When young girl became nervous and forgot the words, Renae held the mic up to her and, facing her so they both looked sideways at the audience, sang the lyrics directly to her. "That way," Renae explains, "she could sing them by herself into the mic. It was only her voice the audience heard. I knew that hearing this young girl singing would be much more special to the audience than hearing another song by me. Of course, she brought the house down!"
